Happy December and Welcome Home For the Holidays with a festive bedroom blog hop where I share along with 10 of my blogger besties bedrooms in our home all decked out for Christmas. I play Santa this year with a bedroom makeover including a fabulous white Christmas tree and some other goodies. This is a talented group with different styles! I am sure that you will find loads of inspiring decorating ideas.

A Christmas Surprise

This past May we bid farewell to our daughter Chloe as she entered her first year in college. Although setting up her room at Ithaca College was fun and furnished with all the comforts of home there really was no replacement for her own bed and the room she grew up in.

Comfort & Joy

As a gift, I decided to surprise Chloe with a fresh new look to her bedroom when she came home for Winter break.  Just as soon as she went back to college after Thanksgiving I brought up the holiday bins, her white Christmas tree, striped her old bedding, vacuumed, dusted and got to work!

The Best Monogrammed Bedding

Let’s face it our kids spend a lot of time in bed. Chloe does most of her studying, web surfing and watching Netflix on her laptop right here. I wanted to give her a fresh new grown-up look.  I turned to the luxury bedding company Crane & Canopy for the ultimate indulgence! If you follow along with my blog you may recall that last year I partnered with Crane & Canopy on my parent’s guest bedroom makeover. I was over-the-moon thrilled that Chloe would have a new duvet cover and matching monogrammed pillow shams. She loves black and white and the Linden black border cotton duvet cover and matching shams would be the perfect compliment to her bright colorful room.

Attention to Details

The quality of these lines are unmatched. No button enclosures with annoying gaps.  Instead  a fabulous zipper and ties in the inside the corners to keep the down comforter from moving around. And who says that you can’t throw something for yourself into the Christmas shopping cart? Every year I receive new PJs so I saved Ross the guesswork and ordered these super soft and lightweight Embroidered Monogram Layla Loungewear pajamas Set. Now you’re talking the ultimate in comfort and indulgence!

To make her “welcome home” extra special I added a white and gold leaf tray and stacked books in festive hot pink and turquoise. If you follow along on my Instagram you will know that fuchsia and hot pink have been an unexpected favorite color to decorate with in our home. A few oversized jingle bells and a Kate Spade ornament adds just the right amount of Christmas spirit.

This is the view she will see next weekend when she comes home.

Cozy Under Feet

Last month in anticipation of the bedroom makeover I removed the gold chevron decal border at the top of the wall.  We loved it for several years but it was time to have some breathing room up top and to declutter. With the busyness of the border gone we needed a rug to anchor the room. The previous white rug was warn and dirty. No more white rugs for me!  We just cant keep them clean and looking fresh.  I found a vintage oriental inspired turquoise rug at HomeDynamix.com in the SPLASH collection. The turquoise was the needed piece to the puzzle and the pops of pink, yellow and orange was the perfect amount of color.

A rug can add so much dimension to a room, tying all the furnishings together with pattern, color, and texture.

The Prettiest White Christmas Tree

Next up to decorate was her favorite Holiday tree adorned with her very own ornament collection. The white branches allows the vibrant colors to POP and the fun sentimental ornaments take center stage.

Starting an Ornament Collection

Ever since Chloe was born my mother, sister and I have been gifting her ornaments. After 18 years it has grown to quite an impressive collection, with each ornament holding special sentimental importance. Added to these ornaments are dozens of hot pink, turquoise, black & white bulbs, jingle bells and gold glitter swirly picks. A faux white fur tree skirt adds warmth and tells Santa where to leave gifts. LOL!

I stashed away all her high school notebooks and brought out her collection of bottle brush, mercury glass and decorative table top Christmas trees. I opened up the striped blackout lined curtains and let the light in! Her room was so bright and the sunlight bounced all around the room.

Here is a how her white Christmas tree looks all lit up! It truly looks magical and is so pretty to see from outside the house at night.

A mini skier nutcracker makes the cut and finds a home just under her white ceramic pineapple lamp. The other nutcrackers are on guard and perched on her dresser.

to the right of her tree nestled in between her window and closet door is a tall white shelving unit that Chloe displays her yearbooks, high school memorabilia and decorative boxes filled with whatever teens love to collect! I added small gold and glitter trees and a coil of twinkle strand fairy lights in a vintage vase. They illuminates the whole room with a warm glow.

Feels Like HOME

The room is all finished and we can’t wait for Chloe to come home and see the changes including her white Christmas tree all decorated. Not too many changes but just enough to make it special.  Ever since I finished decorating her room our dog Bo has been going in there every night to see if his favorite person is there. In just two weeks our hearts and home with be filled with the greatest gift of all. FAMILY
