AM I CRAZY? This space was originally designed to AM I CRAZY? This space was originally designed to be our laundry room, but due to ventilation requirements, we had to swap it with the nearby powder room. The new powder room ended up being much larger than expected, and since I had already purchased the vanity, there was extra space to work with.
Rather than let that bonus square footage go to waste, I had our contractor bump out the wall by about a foot and add custom bookcases to house my ever-growing collection of books and artwork.
Mission accomplished.
Sometimes the best design decisions come from being willing to pivot. What started as an unexpected change turned into one of my favorite rooms in the house. Proof that flexibility can lead to something even better than you imagined. 🩵🩵🩵🩵🩵
Would you ever add a bookcase to your powder room?
One of my all-time favorite brands just entered th One of my all-time favorite brands just entered the outdoor world, and somehow exceeded every expectation. The new outdoor collection from Uttermost is elevated, luxurious, chic, and honestly so beautifully made that it looks like high-end indoor furniture. The fact that it’s crafted with Sunbrella fabric and designed to actually live outdoors? WOW. Our lake house porch has never looked this good and has officially become my favorite room with a view. And would you ever guess this was outdoor furniture? If this dreamy lake porch is your vibe, save this post for inspiration and share it with someone planning an outdoor refresh. I didn’t realize how intense the sun was in this r I didn’t realize how intense the sun was in this room until I noticed my sofa starting to fade… and that was a hard no for me 😅 These blackout roller shades from @joydeco.official have been such an easy fix. They’re sturdy, actually beautiful (which is rare for blackout shades), and Ross and I had them installed in under 20 minutes. Done. ✅
They match my space perfectly, but they have a bunch of other color options too! If you’ve been thinking about updating your window treatments, this is your sign….especially if your furniture is getting blasted with sun like mine was.

I think everyone expects a lake house to lean blue I think everyone expects a lake house to lean blue in every room…but this space had other plans. An art studio with a view, layered in color, pattern, and pieces I couldn’t pass up. Most of it I’ve collected over the years… and somehow this tomboy artist ended up with a pink workspace. Be honest… does a lake house need blue or not? ⬇️

I have a thing for Facebook Marketplace. I save an I have a thing for Facebook Marketplace. I save and save, then force myself to wait a week before going back. Most of the time it’s gone (which saves me a lot of money 😅)… but this one? It kept calling me.
$200 later and she was mine. A custom Palm Beach, FL sofa that weighs an absolute ton and must have cost a fortune…. Cue me telling Ross, “I need your truck…” But truly, what’s meant to be is meant to be. This piece ended up setting the entire tone for my lake house office. And I am SO excited to show you the rest of the room tomorrow. What do you think… ? ☀️#memehillstudio
GOING DARK: As one of the darkest rooms in the hou GOING DARK: As one of the darkest rooms in the house, I decided to lean all the way in instead of fighting it. Darker walls, deeper tones and it completely changed the feel. It’s cozier and somehow more inviting than when I tried to brighten it up with white walls.
The real finishing touch was the matching bedding. I partnered with NAUTICA in this room design, and their classic stripes mixed with subtle anchor prints made it so easy to layer without overthinking it. Sticking to a tight navy, blue and white palette let me play with pattern in a way that still feels collected. It’s one of those spaces that guests LOVE the minute they walk in.
Now it feels less like a guest room and more like a place you actually want to curl up in!
Comment NAUTICA and I’ll send you the links to all the bedding in this post. Save this for your next refresh and tell me—would you go darker in a bedroom or are you still team light and bright? #memehillstudio @nautica
