Girls Bathroom Makeover
I can’t believe it’s already the first week of February! Event though Punxsutawney Phil predicts 6 more weeks of Winter there’s no shame in thinking Spring and warm happy colors. Having a bathroom makeover for a Valentines blog may be a little outside of the box but if you have a teen daughter at home you know the bathroom is PRIME REAL ESTATE. So why not a fun surprise bathroom makeover for this girly girl?
If you’re coming over for my dear friend Janine Happy Happy Nester – Welcome! Janine in my opinion is one of the best bloggers around! Her fabulous style looks so fresh and welcoming. Not to mention she does have a way with pink too! Now let’s unwrap our Valentine’s Day chic bathroom makeover… It all started with an oversized floral shower curtain from Society 6. Then purchased an affordable hot pink runner rug from NuLoom.
Before
We’ve been in our home for just about 10 years now and they say after 10 years each room needs a mini facelift. My daughter Chloe‘s bathroom was no exception. We set out to upgrade her dark juvenile bathroom into a bright chic teen space filled with glam and functionality.
Subway Tile Wallpaper
We bid farewell to dusty sage green paint and dove into a fresh coat of Sherwin Williams SW 6764 Swimming. To break up the solid blue paint we put up thin chair rail molding 4 feet up. My love affair with wallpaper lately has been escalating. I decided that this large room needed a pattern for added interest. I know what you’re thinking! It looks like tile but it’s not… I fell for this Laura Ashley Subway Tiled Wallpaper ( I have a similar one linked here) that I stumbled across when purchasing bedding for my parents bedroom makeover this past Christmas at The Bon-Ton. The chair rail moulding caps off the paper perfectly. Once up, the paper brightened up the space and it’s durable scrubbable finish is perfect- plus there’s no grout to clean!
Going For The Gold
Chloe loves shimmer and if you’ve seen her adjoining bedroom you know its all about GOLD. I hung gold and white shelves above the chair rail to neatly hold her perfume, nail polish collection, and other bath products. A clean-lined writing desk to used as a make-up table. Carrera marble and gold make-up accessories, a light blue make-up mirror, crystal lamp add light and organize in style. Above the table hangs a brass script BRAVE sign. I’m always trying to reinforce her awesomeness.
A Fresh Face For The Vanity
Next, I tackled the maple bathroom vanity. Standard maple vanities are so BLAH! I primed and painted the cabinet Ocean Abyss MQ6-OP by Behr. Gone went the boring chrome lighting and in came the fabulously chic champagne bronze lighting, bath accessories, and plumbing fixtures.
I chose the Progress Elevate bath & vanity 3-light fixture. I’ve loved it’s sleek modern style. The soft curved bar complemented the oval tilting mirror and the Dryden center faucet by Delta Faucet. These stylish modern elements soften the square angular lines of the room.
Raising The Bar
Chloe’s face and hand towels were always taking up valuable space on the sink counter. Directly to the right, we hung the coordinating Dryden Towel Ring and the 24-inch Towel Bar. Bouncing light from the nearby window is a mirror that reads “happy looks good on you” by HGTV’s David Bromstad and a raspberry colored inspirational quote canvas.
Pops Of Pink
I threaded pinks with art, fresh flowers, rugs, and towels throughout the entire room giving an extra feminine touch but still stay teen approved.
Fresh flowers always brighten your day!
Hob Knobbing
Did you all know that I started my art career painting one of a kind cabinet hardware? Yes, I have painted thousands in my day. I swapped out mom’s hand painted knobs and replace them with cat’s eye glass pink knobs finished in 14 karat gold from Quality Bath. These beauties are little gems! Changing out cabinet hardware is a great way to update any vanity, kitchen, or piece of furniture.
I replaced Chloe’s miss-matched bath towels with plush turquoise and white polkadot bath, hand, and wash cloths. There is also a hot pink option!
We replaced her toilet paper and toilet lever with Delta Dryden collection and now everything matches. I hung a funky whimsical brass arrow above her only window and added a marble waste bin. Simple white and water colored abstract floral sheers help with privacy and still let in light.
You Only Live Once. Be Fearless.
The room is finally complete and ready for the pre high school morning rush. The bright light floods in. I had a vision for this makeover gift but sometimes things turn out better than planned. From dark and bland to bright and chic! Now, it might be my turn for a bathroom makeover!
