Today I’m excited to be sharing our Easter dinner table all set with a colorful layered place settings and a bright Spring floral centerpiece. Myself and 12 other bloggers are opening up our homes today and you do not want to miss this Tour! We are talking plants, flowers and all that flora goodness. For those who are just hopping over from my friend Tamara from CitrineLiving welcome! She shares a love of blue and white just like I do!

Color Me Happy

I just love Easter.  It is seriously one of my favorite holidays. There isn’t a huge prep for the day and most of the weekend to spend with family. For those who aren’t familiar with me- Family is first.  My parents and my sister live within walking distance from us. We all talk to one another every single day…and with all our busy schedules we eat meals together several days a week to help each other out.   But this Easter my sister and her family are heading South so it’s a small group of six at my parents for Easter dinner.

To say that I’m a dinnerware junkie is an understatement. And the apple doesn’t fall far from the tree.  My mom has several place settings and loves to collect all kind of dinnerware, serviceware, flatware and anything having to do with entertaining. It’s in our blood.

Recently I came across these beautiful dinner plates  The Royal Pip Collection from Amara. I absolutely love them. There is a whole series of colorful whimsical plates that perfectly fit my mix-and-match approach to design. I started with a set of dinner plates and I will be adding more to my collection for sure.  These plates have a little bit of everything.  A little polka dot, graphic florals, Delft blue, and soft pastels all within a beautiful scalloped plate. This collection would be my inspiration for setting our table for Easter dinner. To see the rest of The Royal Pip Collection from Amara, click here.

If you know me, you know I love to mix old and new and I am all about the layers. So I was thrilled to combine so many sentimental items with my new plates. I first placed a large gold leaf charger, then the Royal Pip dinner plate, an embossed gold salad plate from my parents wedding gifts, then a cobalt blue and gold rimmed Ralph Lauren bread and butter dish, and then topped with my great-grandparents custom porcelain plates. These plates we’re given out at their wedding as guest favors. Much better than a box of matches!

The French blue milk glass egg cups belonged to my Aunt Joyce who collected EVERYTHING and ANYTHING blue. Her antique French milk glass collection was so amazing. When she passed my mother inherited all the beautiful pieces. I share a peek into my moms kitchen cupboard filled with it all on my Instagram Stories.

I accessorized the Easter dinner table with my mom’s blue Delft collection and cobalt blue linen napkins under my new  Gold Flatware.

My mother has been collecting Dutch Delft pieces for over 40 years. I’m so glad they are back in style and that she didn’t sell them at one of our famous annual yard sales.  I fell in love with this delicate covered vegetable terrine and had to add it to the table. To shop Deft Blue, click here… and don’t worry I will let you all know when the next Freling tag sale happens.

April Showers Bring Cobalt Flowers

Once I received my floral plates I took an antique Delft blue and white vase to my sister floral shop and hand picked silk flowers for an arrangement. The bright colors highlight the flowers in the plates tying in all the colors. I brought over my cobalt blue water glasses that I purchased years ago.

Donuts Delight

Heres a close up of Mabel and George’s wedding favors. We have just six! I was fortunate to get to know my great grandfather George a.k.a. Paps. He served in World War I (yes, that’s a one)  in the Artlillary Division.  Paps was a voracious reader, loved his wife and family, and loved his powdered sugar donuts. He ate a donut a day with his coffee and half of the powdered sugar ended up on Paps chin and clothes. I’ll never look at a powdered donut the same without thinking of my Paps.

Show Your True Colors

Jenni’s flower arrangement pulls up the hot pinks, reds, and cobalt from the oriental carpet. The neutral palette of the room and the crisp white linen tablecloth serves as a blank canvas and allows all the colors sing.  I’ve been drawn to round tables lately.  A round table softens the sharp corners of a square and rectangular room and there’s never anyone left at the end of the table. The oval backs of the upholstered chairs also soften the space.

I just love how the light shines through all the glassware. We let all the sun we can get pour through the front picture windows.

Blooms, Blossoms and Bunnies

On the rustic farmhouse sideboard we placed the extra Easter dinner and dessert plates along with a ceramic bust of Peter rabbit. Fresh flowers will fill the turquoise coin dot glass pitcher.

Tiny white porcelain rabbit with gold painted ears are the dinner’s place card holders. I found these and the sweet chick salt and pepper shakers in the dollar bin at Target just the other day!

From the dining room table you can see through the front foyer all the way into the bright sun filled living room.

Putting All My Eggs in One Basket

Sharing a detail of the sweet blue cut glass serving bowl that was from my Aunt Joyce’s collection. The green speckled eggs pull out the green and the floral arrangement and add Spring pastel charm.

Take Me Back: Easter Memories

My sister Jenni and I used to spend the Holiday with my father visiting my great grandma Lou on her grape farm in Westfield, New York. My Gramma Lou lived on her own until 98 years old. Each Easter my mom would send us off with new dresses, stockings, shoes, and hats. We’d spend the entire weekend in and around her historic brick farmhouse located on the banks of Lake Ontario. The routine was the same: go to church then come home, draw and play games, watch Lawrence Welk (her favorite TV show) and savor in the smell of the Easter ham and scalloped potatoes cooking in the oven. How I miss those days.

I’d love to hear about your Easter traditions. xox Amie

    Amie,

Your table is so pretty! Love all the colors and the blue and white accents! And I adore the little bunny place setting holders (I think I saw those at Target?! Wish I would’ve gotten them now!)

Easter was one of my all-time favorite things as a kid. I have such fond memories of the egg hunts and getting a new dress for church every year:)

Hope you had a lovely Easter Amie!
