Guest Bedroom/ Craft room
I took a bight lower level bedroom and brought life with a craft table, sleigh bed and cheery decor.Over the past 7 years I have been fortunate to have a wonderful working relationship with two outstanding builders (Pride Mark Homes and Morrell Builders) designing and furnishing their model homes. They are run by a father and son team and the other by two brothers. They often team up their building empires and call me in for my creative design juices. This years model located at Wilshire Hill in Pittsford, NY we named “The Newport”.
Trundle Bed
A large ranch home with a wall of windows walk out basement. For the past several homes I have used one of the bedroom in the lower level as a craft /guest room. This model was no different but my theme was geared more towards a teen girl. When I proposed the wall color as a dusty mauve they all questioned my choice. But after the roller hit the wall it all made sense to them. I chose Sherwin Williams Breathless SW 6022 and with the large picture windows letting in all the afternoon light it was a perfect backdrop for my all white furniture and color palette of turquoises, watermelon and lemon yellow.
Craft Table Writing Desk
The white sleigh daybed is made by LEA. It has a middle storage locker underneath and two storage ottomans that can be pulled out as needed. A light blue matelasse bedspread, cotton, velvet, and metallic threaded watermelon colored and embroidered lemon yellow accent pillows with the sayings “Home Sweet Home” and “Enjoy the Little Things” were all purchased at HomeGoods. For over the bed, I feel in love with a turquoise and green abstract canvas art also from HomeGoods. I knew one would be too small for the space so I bought two and hung one upside down creating the overall look of a larger painting. It adds a horizontal balance over the bed. Oh, the versatility of abstract art! A turquoise and and white chevron large square pouf rounded out the vignette.
Organized in Style
For the other side of the room I purchased a white writing desk and paired it up with a upholstered turquoise patterned and nailhead chair from HomeGoods. Flanked in between two Freemont metal turquoise and crystal scones light from Murray Feiss I created a gallery wall of chalkboards, a clothesline memo holder, bulletin board and a wooden DREAM cutout found in the dollar bin at Target. Fun desk accessories, note books and a modern white shelf and wooden letter “A” leave my mark. To shop for Turquoise office accessories, click here.

Hi Kathleen- You can purchase chalk board paint at any craft, paint, or big box store. You need to apply several coats but works great.
