A few months ago I came across this adorable oversized wood and gold Tic Tac Toe set at Marshall’s. The lid was broken and the hinges were bent but was on clearance for just $10. So I took it home and gave it a mini makeover.
I removed the lid and hinges and filled in the nail holes with wood filler. I gave it two generous coats of Kilz primer, and two coats of Sherwin Williams (Naval) paint that I had from a previous project. *I’m partial to the All Surface Enamel line for furniture and accessories. It goes on thick and is super durable.
I purchased wrapping paper at Homegoods for $2.99. I loved the blues, and a touch of pink for Valentines day was perfect. The graphic wide stripes were ideal and didn’t compete with the X and O pieces. I measured the openings and cut the paper to fit perfectly. Just in case I wanted to change the tic tac toe paper out I protected the paper with a sheet of laminate. And that was it! So simple and cute. A perfect family gift for Valentine’s Day!
