Welcome Spring
Happy May! Mother Nature is finally co-operating with us. Are you itching to decorate for the warmer months ahead? I certainly am! As soon as the snow melted, I headed straight to HomeGoods to find the aisles overflowing Spring decor inspiration. My partnership with this fabulous company started in 2014. Ever since then I have dove head first into every single project presented to me. After all, I do have a black belt in shopping. This Spring, I was asked to contribute my design tips over on the HomeGoods The Art of Finding Design blog. My task was to spill the beans and share decorating ideas for transforming your home in following three different styles:
This is what Instagram followers saw on HomeGoods stories
1. Transitional
For this space I chose our living room. Don’t you feel like the beginning of the New Year deserves a fresh makeover? After Winter was over and all the holiday decor was packed away I desperately needed color to add life to the room. My coffee table styling called for a revamp, the accent pillows needed a refresh and my fireplace mantel screamed for a total overhaul. In the post I talk about my favorite metallic, the best container for styling, my velvet obsession, and of course my new favorite color. I LOVE THE OUTCOME and I hope you do too. #whatsinyourcart for HomeGoods decor?
2. Farmhouse Modern
If you’re a fan of HGTV’s Fixer Upper then you will love my sister Jenni’s home. After a year of squeezing our family in her kitchen we decided to tear down the wall dividing the kitchen and dining room. Removing the wall opened up the whole space and allowed light to flow from the front all the way to the back of the house. It was the best decision ever made. To see the transformation you can read my blog post documenting the renovation. I only hope that Joanna Gaines would be proud of my design! We transformed not just one but three spaces in their home; the large kitchen hutch and the island, a small morning coffee nook, and her beautiful farmhouse inspired living room. In my opinion neutral has never looked so good. I share mixing metals and wood, how-to create a cozy corner, and styling farmhouse kitchen decor.
3. Coastal/Nautical
If you been following along on my Instagram page you know that we own a very small lakeside home. And when I say small I mean 745 square feet. Just a lit bigger than a tiny house but not too big that my weekends at the lake are spent cleaning up. After 5 years, it was time to make waves and update our hand-me-downs at our waterfront fixer upper. I brought in new art, nautical striped pillows, and a slew of Homegoods decor coastal accents that tie the whole living room together.

PS This is what Danielle and I were wearing during the lake house photo shoot. You can’t tell but there was snow outside the window! That’s Upstate New York for you in Early Spring.
