Farmhouse Style Living
If you’re a HGTV junkie like me you’re probably glued to Fixer Upper and love everything farmhouse cottage. Whether a new episode or rerun I still can’t get enough of Joanna and Chip Gaines’s casual farmhouse style of neutral decor, reclaimed woods, organic color palettes, and ALL that rusty goodness. So taking inspiration from the The Magnolia Farm I am so happy to be partnering up with my friends from Raymour & Flanigan to bring you a farmhouse inspired cottage with the bonus of having a wraparound porch with a lake view of one of New York State’s heavenly Finger Lakes Honeoye Lake. Come inside Cindy and Bob’s 900 square foot gray cedar shake and white metal roof cozy lakeside Summer Home and stay a while!
Fixer Upper Style
If you follow along with me on Instagram it’s no secret that I’m a huge fan of slipcovers. There’s nothing like knowing that you can wash away any spills or mishaps and have a fresh clean piece of furniture. We choose the Lakeside Collection for the main pieces and although I love the Oyster duct we mixed thing up a bit and chose a graphite gray color for the sofa and custom ordered it in a sleeper sofa to accommodate even more houseguests! There’s plenty of room for curling up on a Sunday morning in this farmhouse cottage with coffee or snuggling with the kids and reading a bedtime story. I just love the crisp lines and the relaxed tailored look. It truly will never go out of style.
Rustic Vintage Charm
How amazing are these vintage wooden crates that Cindy found thrifting? She’s been stock piling all her finds over the Winter and now finally gets to display them.
Large Metal Clock
We accessorized the sofa with navy and cream knitted pillows and a nautical inspired blue and cream striped throw blanket. Above the sofa we hung a Metal Wall Clock to bring your eye up to the cathedral ceiling. It’s rustic metal and iron fabrication is the perfect addition to this living space. This awesome affordable timepiece is 49″ tall and makes a statement on large walls. I couldn’t think of a better way to remind them they’re “On Lake Time. ”
Farmhouse Coffee Table
Nestled in between the sofa and chair and a half is the Odessa CoffeeTable. This sturdy dark stained coffee table is great for family games, late night snacks, or just kicking back and putting up your feet on. I feel in love with the tressell base and wood plank top. It’s dark wood stain is the perfect anchor for the room. We topped her off with a wooden tray with metal handles and fresh sunflowers bought from a roadside stand. All this goodness rests on the a sisal rug This wool rug with it’s relaxed classic sisal design go with absolutely everything! And unlike scratchy sisal, this wool carpet is so soft and a breeze to clean. Cindy chose the eggshell color with beige trim border.
Extra Seating Ottomans
For extra seating, we purchased the Lakeside ottoman. It fits like a glove on the other side of the coffee table and can be moved around so easily. Tying in with our rustic burlap look we had to have the sweet Family Script Pillow. It’s super soft and I love the idea of this being a family cottage built on love. Cindy says “There may only be two bedrooms but there’s always room for family. ”
Wicker lamps
To the right of the Lakeside Chair and a half is the Chamberlain Table Lamp. This gorgeous lamp is full of texture and rustic charm. It’s drum wicker shade is so fantastic and looks so beautiful lite up at night.
Industrial Accent Furniture
You will find in the corner one of my most favorite pieces The Rudy Accent Chest. If you love the look of weathered and distressed furniture, the Rudy accent chest is the ideal addition to any space. It’s made of kiln dried mango woods and painted and distress with mismatched knobs, retro iron feet and metal plaques. Games, DVD’s, books all have a home in this fun piece. Opening each drawer is a little treasure chest! On top we accessorized with a resin and metal propeller. These propellers are so fun and pull in the weathered nautical elements of the lake.
Mirror Gallery Wall
To reflect light and the lake view we grouped 2 Baci E Abbracci Wall Mirror Sets over the ottoman again tying in the wood theme and the subtle X and O. The “X” is also used in the lookout loft. So these mirrors were meant to be adding the right amount of texture and design.
Kids Loft Room
The lookout loft gives Cindy and Bob’s grandkids a fun play space and bird’s eye view of the Lake.
It’s difficult to believe that this lofty cottage is only 900 square feet. With it’s light furnishings, off white greige wall colors and Nantucket Gray floors, Cindy and Bob have given their family and friends a relaxed and spacious spot to enjoy all that Honeoye Lake has to offer. Come see how I painted thick horizontal stripes on an accent wall. Thank you to Raymour and Flanigan for making it all possible! XO Amie
