Welcome back for more decorating for Fall home inspiration! If you last visited the Harvest Haven Fall Tour 2016 then you got an eyeful of some great decorating ideas from my 17 blogger friends. Well I’m here to share more! I was so excited about making these changes that I’ve added an in depth post about how I layer on the texture…
Bringing in Warmth
As the weather gets chillier and the leaves start to turn colors I look to make changes at home. With that brings loads of texture. Adding texture to your home shouldn’t be difficult no matter what your decorating style is. From modern, to eclectic to traditional and everything in between the autumnal journey brings in warmth and comfort. These seasonal changes don’t have to cost a fortune. I turn to furniture and accessories with patterns and tactile qualities that second for pieces of art!
Global patterns and textures
Let’s talk Pillows! As a self proclaimed pillow junkie I start with the sofas, beds, and chairs. For the past few years there has been a trend in global patterns. I absolutely love the nomadic looked of these tapestry pillows and poufs. PATTERN PLAY at it’s finest. It doesn’t matter that the prints and patterns are off from each other. It’s all part of the collected look.
Think that these patterns are too out there for you? Think again…. I’ve used them in this traditional home and paired them with cozy throw blankets. The rich colors, patterns and texture add so much depth to this neutral room. Notice the zig zag is repeated in both he throw and pillow?
Create a Grouping
You really can never have too many poufs. Here I’ve mixed gray and beige. They are great for side tables and extra seating while taking up very little space. I stacked two of these woven macrame poufs next to an accent chair. The light linen fabric of this chair makes a statement against its dark distressed wooden frame. This Fall its about mixing colors and creating depth. All the same color and value washes a room out so don’t forget to create your grouping with various tones and shades of your favorite color scheme. I turned to the outdoors and the ever changing color of the leaves in Upstate NY for inspiration this year.
Fall ACCESSORIES
Nothing says Fall more than pumpkins! At every store now you’ll find rows and rows of pumpkins and autumn decor. Scooped some up! I was immediately drawn to this mercury glass silver beauty with the embossed copper top. In addition to the mixed metal pumpkin is a small but heavy carved white carrera marble a wooden stem that I had to buy. Mix and match for a collected look. Cozy Corners
A cozy wool throw with extra long pumpkin colored fringe adds more texture and a pop of color. Paying homage to my French family my friend Bianca from With Lavender and Grace sent me this patchwork linen grain cloth Joie De Vivre pillow. (French for The Good Life). It’s soft light gray printed text compliments the gray of the Moroccan inspired fabric on the accent chair. This chair with its sloping dark stained wooden frame and graphic charcoal and cream quatrefoil print commands attention in the quiet little sitting area. More cream ceramic pumpkin jars hold sweet treats that even Rosie the Sheepdog can’t resist!
Crazy for Copper
If you invest in one thing this Fall make it COPPER. In the kitchen we’ve added wheatgrass and acorns in addition to the pumpkins and scattered them through the shelving. New copper serving pieces bring in the autumn colors and blend in with the exiting vintage copper and black and white decor.
Keep a look out for the multiple mini pumpkins sold in the clear containters. The decorating possibilities are endless. Here they are added to the bar area but later on they will make a perfect addition to my harvest table setting. To see how I used these cute mini pumpkins in a tablescape click here.
Fall Centerpiece
A wooden and silver turkey tray gets a quick centerpiece of harvest pumpkins, gourds and sunflowers and takes center stage on the island until Thanksgiving dinner.
Mirrors are a perfect addition to a room. They reflect light and give the illusion of a space being larger. A rustic wood starburst mirror is a perfect porthole into the formal living room.
Sophisticated Fall Colors
Layer on the texture with seasonal colors. Here I’ve chosen a merlot colored knitted throw blanket, down embroidered navy and cream accent pillows, a fall floral arrangement and botanical art. I love how the pattern of the navy pillow echoes the feathers in the floral arrangement. These pillows are so elegant and beautiful that they will be staying around longer than one season! Decorating for Fall is so fun!
Fall Guest Bedroom
Fall bring the holidays and the holidays bring guests. In the guest bedroom we changed out the Summer white bedding for a layered rich jeweled toned color palette. Paisley Ralph Lauren bedding gets paired with deep turquoise velvet pillows and a woven throw. These gorgeous rich throws are my go-to for affordable seasonal color and texture.
I take the mix and match approach and add ceramic vases, candle holders, and seasonal decorative accents to further layer on the color and texture. Adding a rustic good luck charm to this corner is the Clover Round Wall Mirror . The distressed white finish and its quatrefoil pattern gives a casual look to the room and compliments all the other painted pieces. Im a big fan of round mirrors. They break up the boxiness and square features of a room.
We are all ready for guests!
When the leaves turn colors how do you make the transition into Fall? I always look for textures, colors, and patterns. Layer, and layer until your heart’s content and your home will have a warm and inviting vibe! xo Amie

HI Linda- Thank you so much for stopping by . The boots are about 10 years old and I purchased them from a vendor in Atlanta. The markings on the boots say CONTI. You might try googling them. If I see them again in January I will get a card. If googling doesnt show anything you could always call the AmericasMart in Atlanta and ask for the kilm vendor in the cash and carry section. Good luck! They are so awesome!

I absolutely love the mirrors featured in the family room (heavy oval shape) and the wooden starburst. Do you have any idea where either of these mirrors were purchased? Beautifully decorated home!

Hi Belle! The large oval mirror was from Wisteria Flowers and Gifts a few years ago. I can most certainly ask if they can order you one and drop ship to your home. I will find out the price for you. The wooden sunburst was from HomeGoods. Thank you Amie
