When it comes to Holiday decorating how do you decorate a  teen room that’s been pinned over 40K times on Pinterest and still keep it fun, festive and playful?  You stick to the same formula: black, white, gold, hot pink and loads of polka dots, stripes, and glitter. Although the traditional red and green themes are still the most popular, thinking “outside the box” with unusual color themes for Christmas decor is becoming more and more acceptable. So welcome to Chloe’s Whimsical White Winter Wonderland sprinkled with a touch of pink and glittery gold.

Bedroom Christmas Trees

I have always loved white Christmas trees! Growing up we’d visit our grandparent’s home during the Holidays. I adored their silver metallic tree but we were never allowed to go in the living room and touch it. We could only admire from afar. We would sit at the top of the stairs and stare up at all the beautiful colored ornaments and flickering lights. Now, we have one of our own and I spend the same amount of time sitting in Chloe’s room staring at her white tree and getting really close.

Our idea was to sprinkle the gold white and pink around the room. We added this white pineapple lamp with a lucite base to Chloe’s desk along with two gold ceramic Christmas tree and a hot pink bottle brush tree enclosed in glass to match her gold desk chair.

White Christmas Tree

A mix of black, white and gold ornaments in stripes, ombres and chevrons were found at HomeGoods. I then mixed in matte and shiny hot pink, turquoise white and gold glass bulbs from Michael’s. While there, I purchased pink sequined ribbon and and these whimsical gold glitter scroll picks.  We then added some of Chloe’s collectible keepsake ornaments that she’s been collecting since birth!

The perfect hot pink and white polka dotted wrapping paper was waiting for me at HomeGoods. The polka dot theme is carried throughout the room with the bedding and Santos accent chair from Raymour & Flanigan.  I love wrapping paper and am always collecting quality and festive designs, colors, and patterns. It’s even sweeter when I buy paper after the Holidays at deep discounted prices!

How to Decorate a Tree with Ribbon

It’s important to weave the ribbon in and out of the tree. Never wrap the ribbon solely on the outside of the tree.   I cut the ribbon in large pieces and tie a bow at the end of each strand then attach it to the closest branch.

Pink and Gold Girls Room

The white nightstand is adorned with more trees.  When we were shopping, I told Chloe “If it’s gold and a tree, put it in the cart! ” We also found a large euro sized  black and white striped accent pillow with oversized pom-pom fringe. I love how the pom-poms echoes the polka dots of her Kate Spade bedding set. We kept the hot pink agate accent pillows from Society 6 and added a Merry & Bright script pillow from Hobby Lobby.

We added more black and white storage boxes and an addition to her POSITIVE VIBES gallery wall. A turquoise and gold framed print: WHAT YOU THINK ,YOU BECOME by Buddha is at eye level.

If you follow along on my Instagram stories, you’ve had a chance to see this vintage vase filled with a strand of striped bulbs from Anthropologie. I added loose silver and white jingle bells and it has become the ideal night light.  The sweet little gold and white penguin was a last minute impulse purchase from the check out aisle at HomeGoods. It was filled with potpourri but I emptied him out. He was that cute all on his own!

The vintage black and gold Italian vase was purchased at the Ronald MacDonald House sale for just $4. It was one of those items that you ask yourself “Do I really want it?” I’ve never regretted buying it. It’s graphic shape, hand painted gold accents and nod to mid century modern design is classic and unique.

Ready for Santa

Chloe’s room is the first room ready for the Holidays and the first of three trees to be decorated in our home.  She said to me the other night, “Mom I loved my room before, but I love it even better when I turn off the lights and just leave the tree on.”
