Bedroom Decorating For Christmas
It’s time to spill the beans. Let’s face it, we ALL work hard year round so by the time December arrives who is completely exhausted? MOI! Come nighttime, I desperately need a blissful place to lay my head and recharge. It was time for an early present to myself. Luckily, as a blogger my job is to get the ideas out to followers well before the Christmas rush so it’s time to relax and enjoy the festivities. Today, I am joining a few of my blogging besties and sharing our inviting Christmas bedroom all decked out for Christmas. Direct links to their websites are below.
Merry Christmas To Us
Astonishing as it may sound I have never shared or decorated our bedroom until a few years ago when I gave my master closet a makeover. After all it was just myself, Ross, and our rescue Bo spending time in our bedroom. It wasn’t until I gifted my parents a surprise Christmas bedroom makeover with my daughter and niece that a light bulb went off. We decorated their tree and gave them all new bedding. It was the ideal gift. I decided to treat myself and try it at home.
My Favorite Holiday Nightlight
Two years ago I purchased this 7-1/2 foot slim pre-lit Christmas tree. I love it’s petite width and the fact that I can put it up myself in literally 3 minutes is life changing. No stringing lights, messy needles, or watering every night. It is nestled in between our electric fireplace and my favorite navy velvet bedroom chair. I kept the ornaments simple and colorful and stuck with round glass bulbs, gold swirly picks and a navy and glitter gold polka dot wired ribbon. This year, I added a tufted matching cube ottoman from The Novogratz to kick my feet up on. Oh, and its an extra place to put all my bed pillows that you will see later on in the post.
There’s no better nightlight than a Christmas bedroom tree loaded with twinkle lights.
Simple Christmas Bedroom Touches
There is no shortage of greens around our Alpine Neighborhood. So to make up for the lack of evergreen smell with our artificial tree I added fresh greens and grouped them with my bottle brush and mercury glass trees. I scattered these simple holiday vignettes throughout the room.
Under The Canopy Bedding
Winters in Upstate NY are all about layering to keep warm. Last year, I was introduced to Under The Canopy bedding. I have fallen in love with their 100% organic made bedding and was so thrilled to partner with this amazing company again and receive new brushed organic cotton cozy sheets, a down EcoPure comforter and pillows and a cotton stitched quilt set and shams. During the day, I love the crisp all white look so the quilt stays folded at the bottom of the bed until bedtime when we pull it up, layer on the warmth and get cozy.
Don’t Touch the Good Stuff
My husband Ross is always using our towels for not so glamorous activities like washing the cars, his lawn mover and cleaning the floors to name a few. So I was over the moon excited to have thick fresh bath towels from Under The Canopy! New bath matts, wash cloths, hand towels and extra large bath towels for our ensuite bath.
In my book you can never have too many pillows or blankets!
Color Themes
By sticking within our navy, cream and white bedroom theme I can change the look tenfold. I fell in love with the 300-thread count cotton brushed sheet set. This is my second set from Under the Canopy and now I can switch back and forth and mix and match my summer and winter collections. The best thing about this line is that the fabric gets softer and softer the more you wash it. I was so thrilled to see that it is now all available at Bed, Bath and Beyond!
Our Christmas bedroom has become a mini art gallery with thrifted art, family heirlooms and my own work. Collecting gold frames and brass accessories add to the collected blissful feel. It may sound silly but I sleep so much better in a clean and uncluttered bedroom.
Jingle All The Way
My favorite purchase last year was a bucket filled with jingle bells! At first I was hesitant about whether or not I’d use 200 jingle bells but boy the uses turned out to be endless. I place them in bottoms of gift bags, tied larger ones on the tree, created a fireplace garland, wrap gifts with them and here I pilled a group in a vintage milk glass compote.
New Year’s Resolutions
Ironically, the places we spend so much time in get overlooked, Getting ready for this blog post was motivation to simplify, clean and display ONLY my favorite things. There is certainly not enough room for my favorite things so I choose to rotate every few seasons. How about you? Are you a packrat like me? My goal for the New Year is get more organized and pass on my treasure to others. As for my master bedroom…I am one month ahead of my 2019 New Year’s resolutions…..
These are a few of my favorite things.
I just love all the gold accents that are in stores now. They compliment all my existing gold decor and its hard to tell the difference between whats old and whats new. Mixing this gold frame with the large brass oval mirror is a fresh look.
My Favorite Little Corner
This corner best represents me. It is a sunny corner that is the first thing I see in the morning. A thrifted demi- lune table that I painted white it touched away between two sun filled windows. The bottom landscape is by far my most favorite painting that I own. It was a gift from my mother. Even though this is quintessential New York Winter that I see right outside our windows I keep this painting up all year round.
Treat Yourself to a Gift
I once read an article written by a very successful investor that resonated with me. He could not impress the importance of rewarding yourself for your work. He said to “take at least $20./week and buy something you would ordinarily not buy for yourself.” Working hard and not being rewarded is counter productive. Whether it’s a new CD, a good bottle of wine, or new bed linens take the time to pat yourself on the back each week for all your hard work. Clocking in those hours will be much more bearable. For me a trip to the thrift shop is my little reward. I never know what treasure I might find. How do you reward yourself?

Where did you get the fireplace? It looks like a more realistic electric version. Thanks
memehillstudio
Hi Linda- Yes it is an electric fireplace that we purchased at Home Depot 9 years ago. We absolutely love it. I love it’s simple classic look. It provides so much warmth on the cold winter nights and is super energy efficient. I highly recommend one.
