Comfortable & Inviting Furniture

It’s been months in the making with many uncontrollable hiccups but the end result was undoubtedly worth the wait.  The new Meme Hill Studio space is finally finished and ready for friends, family and customers to come in and experience all things creative. I am thrilled to be sharing my new space starting with a furniture reveal sponsored by my friends at Raymour and Flanigan. Most of you have read my studio reveal post sharing before images of this space in the raw.  It was an underwhelming tired office space bordering on scary.  Not anymore! After paint, flooring, lighting, new door and windows it was time to make my creative space feel like a chic home away from home. Just before the pandemic hit I headed out to a Raymour & Flanigan showroom to select furniture for my studio sitting area.

Quality Rugs at Affordable Prices

This living room area is in the center of the studio. It is a space to style accessories, meet with clients, host events and highlight my original canvas art. I chose a clean palette of creams, light grays, white and charcoals with accents of warm woods allowing the color of the artwork to take center stage. My first item was a global inspired Turkish area rug. I chose the Moroccan shag 8″ by 11″ area rug.  It was durable enough to withstand customer and client foot traffic. With it’s global pattern and black/white color scheme it’s sure to go with all styles and seasons as I change art, decor and accessories. Not to mention how cozy it feels!

Stunning Slipcovered Sofas

It is no secret that I am a huge fan of slipcovered sofas. The ability to change the color, launder, and its relaxed casual feel is a no brainer for me. Online, the Westminister Slipcovered Sofa immediately caught my eye and I have no regrets! The single deep seat cushion, sloped back, linen flecked upholstery, and down filled accent pillows reminds me of an expensive boutique sofa only at a fraction of the cost.

All in the Details

How beautiful is this pleat detail? Looking for multiple seat cushions? A different color or fabric? The selections in the showroom and on the Raymour & Flanigan site is extensive. There is a style and budget for everyone and most furniture can be delivered in just two days or less. I have personally taken a tour of the Raymour & Flanigan Furniture headquarter warehouse and it is nothing short of a small city with all its stocked furniture, mattresses and home decor.

Here is the debut of two of my custom one-of-a-kind pillows that pop against the neutral fabric. I just love how the Westminister Sofa is the first piece of furniture that greets you face first. Everyone who enters the studio B-lines to sit on her. They immediately fall in love. What’s not to love? To the right a black metal pivoting accent lamp also from Raymour & Flanigan Furniture.

In the center of the seating area is the Nora Round Coffee Table.  With all the square elements in the space a round coffee table softens up all the sharp angular edges. It’s warm wood and nod to mid century modern design keeps the space fresh, inviting and eclectic.

Round Coffee Table Love

The table barely hit the rug and I couldn’t wait to style it. I stacked black and white coffee table books and topped them with a brass magnifying glass and crystal cluster sculpture for good luck.  To the right, a pair of gray painted tassel prayer beads and a custom scented Meme Hill Studio candle in my favorite scent Finger Lakes.

I absolutely love the grain detail on the top. The book-match acacia veneer is highlighted with a gray finish that compliments the accent chairs and shiplap feature wall. The Nora Collection also includes a sofa table and side table for a complete cohesive look. You will love them too!

Here’s another flatlay detail shot of how the rug’s bohemian pattern and table elements work together.

Modular Furniture

The studio is just shy of 1,000 sq. feet so creating a visually open and bright feel was top on the mission list. To the right of the Nora coffee table is a pair of Stacy II Armless Chairs. This fabulous collections consists of clean lined contemporary modular pieces that can create just about any configuration you dream up. The light gray velvet color adds just enough contrast and the low backs do not block the view from the front door. I’ve separated them now but having the option of pushing them together to make a loveseat is awesome!

The Prettiest Electric Fireplace

The long back wall was one of my first design details to tackle. At  30 feet long I needed a focal point to break up the white and add visual interest and detail. My initial layout had the sofa on the back wall until I saw the Heather Mantel with Electric Fireplace. It was like a light bulb went off.  Yes, I could have a fireplace in a commercial setting and a beautiful one at that!

I have to admit that most of the electric fireplaces out there leave much to be desired but the the Heather Electric Fireplace displays some fabulous detailed craftsmanship. It pays homage to a traditional mantel design with a fresh twist.  The rich dark wedgewood gray finish adds a touch of modern. I can see this working in traditional and transitional spaces alike.

The multi-flame technology allows you to adjust the heat temperature, flame height and even flame color. You can select the flames on for ambiance or add the blower for heat. I am looking forward to turning it on during the frigid Upstate NY winter months for additional heat!
