Two rooms, two beds, three looks: Changing Styles

A slipcovered bed gets a new look in a new room. Often in my job I get the opportunity to redesign the the same room more than once. Wether its a baby nursery that I’m making over for a tween or a house that gets sold and the new owner wants a fresh more personal look. They often come to me feeling like they’re hurting my feeling but in all honestly I love the challenge and the opportunity to make the space even better than before.

When I decorate model homes the furniture stays in the house until the entire subdivision is sold only after that does the model go up for sale. The furniture is never used and is in perfect condition. Often I try to reuse as many pieces as possible without duplicating the same look. Here is a guest bedroom turned into a tween room and the same furniture in a new model guest bedroom with a totally different look. Two rooms, two beds, three looks…

Bedroom makeovers by MemeHill.comthe Somerset Hill model home guest bedroom with walls painted in Sherwin Williams Evening Shadow Sw 7662. A stone colored linen slipcovered bed, white washed distressed side table and white and gray matelasse bedding from HomeGoods, custom mock roman shades and a sophisticated palette of earth tones make this guest bedroom tranquil and welcoming.

The new homeowner loved the wall color and furniture placement. We switched out the window treatments for custom hand painted wooden valences. Natalie loves chevron so I color matched the orange found in the Overstock sheet set bedding and added hot pink round flat wooden balls to the tops. A girly white linen upholstered headboard from Overstock, fun graphic Totally Trellis PBTeen pink bedding, PB teen pink ombre Capiz shell chandelier, colorful accessories and Natalie’s custom framed artwork taking center stage round out this room makeover.

Five years later same slipcovered bed, white matalasse bedding and side table is used in the Newport model home with a fresh design approach. In this guest room color, texture and global nautical feel with blues whites, bright oranges and accents of lemon yellow and green add life, pattern and comfort. Tommy Hilfiger Navy stripes and green ombre accents pillows brighten up the white bedding.  Navy Dilon wall paper by Thibaut reminiscent of rope links, bright orange silk panels, high gloss tray, lamps, coral framed art, baskets and accessories from HomeGoods make this relatively small room vibrant, happy and welcoming to guests.

So the next time your room need a fresh look think twice before starting from scratch. Keep you basics and see where your accessories take you. xoxox Amie
