After two years and drafts of renovations, we realized this quaint “fishing camp” was never going to be the full-time residence we wanted. NO REGRETS! One room is better than two! An original galley kitchen with no appliances and a 100 square foot dining room separated by wall was not my dream space…. Until the wall came down. 🔨 I utilized every square inch and packed it with my favorite finishes, appliances, and furniture. Now we can entertain and seat 8 in our kitchen. We live here as I joke the kitchen is my office. I hand painted the hood to match our Subzero fridge. Carved out a cookbook and charcuterie board nook. Fit in a pantry and appliances cabinet. No regrets. 🤍 WORTH THE WAIT. .

Who needs a scullery in their life? 👩🏼‍🍳🙋🏼‍♀️ A scullery is more like an elevated pantry – and are not a new concept! Traditionally, these “back kitchens” were used for washing up dishes and/or as an overflow kitchen. It’s still a luxurious addition and definitely has benefits…. They provide extra storage, usually has a sink and can be an ideal place to put bulkier appliances like an extra fridge/freezer, mixers, coffee/espresso machines, oven, large serving pieces, microwave or air fryer. A hidden spot to put all the overflow when entertaining. Today, these second kitchens are known by many other names: prep kitchens, working kitchens, butler’s pantries, back kitchen, or even dirty kitchens. What would you love to store in your scullery. .

When it turns out better than what you imagined! It’s been a hot minute since last posting. Life just gets in the way and sometimes posting something creative and inspiring just isn’t there… until this project!

I’ve been sharing snippets of this 2+ year project on my stories and feed and this week a professional photographer was hired to document the finished look. I was there to take my own content so be ready for more of this awesome modern farmhouse kitchen. Bright, warm, spacious, inviting and has just about everything one would need to whip up a culinary masterpiece. So many details, decisions, and decor. What do you think? What do you like best?
