Last month my friend Ellen called me to come over and check out her twin girls Cate and Claire’s bedroom. She said it was in need of a serious sprucing up. Now I take that with a grain of salt because I think her house is one to the most beautiful homes in Rochester and her taste is impeccable. Last year I had painted her son’s nursery and the Jack and Jill bathroom that the three share. There is no shying away from color when it comes to this family and that’s why Ellen gave me carte blanche to give these girls a room that they could grow into. Heres how it went.

Ellen loves stripes but we had painted horizontal stripes in the bathroom and Jack’s nursery so we went with vertical stripes. The walls were painted in Sherwin Williams Venus Pink SW650. I chose larger 10 inch stripes in SW 6504 Skyhigh and 6 inch stripes in SW6714 Citrine.

The girls requested lavender and to find a large lavender C was nearly impossible. I found this metal C on sale at Hobby Lobby. If you are looking for to create a monogram gallery wall click here for some great letters.  I also purchased two wooden hexagon boxes to paint.

I painted the metal C with a gloss lavender color and found coordinating wallpaper samples from my discontinued wallpaper book stash. I decoupaged the paper with Modge Podge in the back of the wooden shadow boxes after painting them white.

The girls bedroom was big enough to lave a little craft table. White chairs got a fresh coat of turquoise spray paint. I accessorized the table with a painted tray filled with colored pencils and a fun yellow timer.” Every child is an artist.” -Picasso. I love encouraging anything creative. Craft tables don’t need to be up agains the wall. Here we floated it in the center of the roomso that more than one artist can create. Are you looking for a durable and functional table and chair set that your budding artist can go to town on? Here are a few of my picks. I love the modern Eames inspired set!  Where was this when I was growing up?

And I couldn’t forget Jacks room. More stripes! This room can take him well into his teen years. For right now we added a “love you more than all the Stars” art. If you are looking for great nursery art click here for some of my favorites. As always I absolutely love painting and decorating kid spaces. The girls were so happy to come home and see their new room. I even left them little surprises in their closets.

Love your room posts on IG. I am Rosie’s mommy . We are taking on painting Rosie’s big brother’s room … letting go of ‘his ‘ room & turning it into a ‘zen’ guest room . I wish I had a magic wand for this project … not having fun with all the prep work and then we have the rest of the house to do !!! And picking colors , besides Rosie’s favorite color of pink is quite challenging for me. Happy Decorating & Give ‘your’ Rosie kisses for us

Love this! Some painting projects I plan on tackling this summer are more garage sale furniture DIY makeovers! Last year, I completely repainted a dresser with Annie Sloan chalk paint and recently invested in a wax brush! I absolutely love the color I chose- Duck Egg.
