Merry Christmas!  I cannot believe that we are in our last month of 2016. Where did the year go? There’s no better time than now to get out the ski jackets and bring up all the bins from the basement and start decorating for Christmas. Are you ready to Tour 16 of the most beautiful bloggers homes decorated for Christmas? This year we’ve added some more friends to the HOME FOR THE HOLIDAYS BLOG TOUR.  If you’re coming over from The Shabby Creek Cottage  “Welcome”.  We also have a very special gift to share with one lucky reader so read on all the way to the end. WE’RE PLAYING SANTA!

I liked RED and PLAID then and I love it even more now!  So why not take the inspiration and roll with it?

Each Christmas Eve I host my entire extended family. Close to 45 in total.  We all gather in our living room for our annual gift exchange. I love to make this room festive and bright with an abundance of color and lights.

christmas-home-blogger-tour-tree-ornament-glass-fireplace-mantel-garland-flocked-traditional-whimsical-stockings-meme-hill-red-lanternsThis year I purchased this light up MERRY sign from HomeGoods. The light up marquee matches my initial letter B that stays year round in the fireplace.  I added a gorgeous 9 foot pre-lit flocked garland from King of Christmas and hung our whimsical patchwork plaid stockings from it. I added simple green glass bulbs to the garland. It was so easy to hang a pre lit garland. No more going back to using my own lights. Its pre-lit from here on out.

Last week on my Instagram stories you might have seen a peek at the skis that I purchased at a yard sale this summer. You should have seen the looks when I squeezed these into my car in August. These vintage skis still have the old silver bindings and leather straps. I knew for $25 that they would make a colorful addition to my colorful mantel vignette.

Seeing Red

In keeping with the red theme I purchased red battery operated lanterns for the hearth, two wool snowflake accent pillows and the coziest polka dotted pom-pom throw blanket also from HomeGoods.

Make sure that you climb your way up to the top of Santa’s NICE LIST this year! This vintage apple picking ladder is the ideal spot to hang all our blankets during the cold NY months. When it’s movie time we get to pick from our favorites.

This year I purchased these light up mercury glass trees in a variety of shapes and sizes. At night we turn off all the lights and they shimmer from on top of the piano. The red plaid ottoman gets moved all around and is the perfect little footstool. Shop here for plaid holiday footstools.

Christmas Collectibles

Each year we cut our own live Christmas tree. We squeeze the tallest tree possible into the living room and load it with my collectible glass ornaments. This is one of my favorite glass Santa ornament from Christopher Radko. Start your Christopher Radko Collection today and have an amazing colorful hand painted glass ornament collection to pass on to the next generation.

TIP: Throw away the cheap and unreliable metal hangers and upgrade to green floral or pipe cleaners to hang your ornaments and rest assure that they won’t fall of the tree.

This year we decided to decorate our master bedroom for the Holidays. Why on Earth haven’t I done this before? It was the best decision. I absolutely love coming home to this beautiful tree. At night I turn off all the lights and it makes for best nightlight anyone could ever imagine. This 7.5 foot King Frasier Fir LED pre-lit slim tree from King Of Christmas fits to a “T” in my reading corner. I turn on the fireplace and I’m in Christmas Heaven. It took us under 5 minutes to assemble the entire tree.

I put my feet up on this red tartan plaid ottoman and I’m ready to wind down.  We decorated the tree in a black, white, gold and red theme. I wove red wired ribbon throughout and tied bows at the end. I added a mirrored star as a tree topper.

I feel in love with this large glass bulb. It fit my color scheme and the gold glitter was the icing on the tree. I added gold glitter curly Q floral picks and crystal light up stars to the red checkered ribbon. Notice how lifelike these branches look.

Christmas Bedding

I also made some changes to my bedding.  I wanted the plaid and red theme to take center stage in the room so I layered large white matellase Euro pillows with natural trim fringe, snowflake sheets, and tartan plaid and velvet accent pillows from HomeGoods.  The pair of bright green ginger jar lamps were purchases at my daughter’s school fundraiser for $8. each. They are the perfect compliment to the reds scattered around the room.

christmas-decorating-ideas-master-bedroom-homegoods-plaid-tree-cozy-bottle-brush-sign

Above the bed I added a gold metal and white washed wood BE MERRY sign. I bought this way back in October. I knew that it would be gone if I didn’t buy it right away.

christmas-home-blogger-tour-tree-ornament-glass-fireplace-mantel-garland-flocked-traditional-whimsical-be-merry-sign

Gold and red ceramic and bottle brush trees are added to the dressers and tables.

christmas-decorating-ideas-master-bedroom-homegoods-plaid-tree-cozy-closeottomanI’ve never been so happy with our bedroom like I am now with it decorated for the Holidays. In the new year though I will be making some changes. Until then I will enjoy the colors that Christmas had brought in and our King Of Christmas tree will always have a loving home.

Your home is so cheery! I love what you did with the fireplace. Ours is out of commission, too. So I’ve put some logs in there with some Xmas lights and an old tin coffee pot. Love it.

I’m nuts about plaid, too. Not sure why we always bring it out at Xmas. I love it all year long!
