Welcome to the Easter Blog Hop! Hop, Hop, Hooray!  Sorry, I just couldn’t resist that. I want to give a great big Spring hug to those coming over from Rhonda at Hallstrom Home. Rhonda is one of the most hardworking and talented bloggers I know. Can you believe the one-of-a-kind mirrors and gorgeous linens she creates?  So how about some easy Easter decorating tips?

Easter Decorating…Hop On In

We welcomed March this week and that means one thing.  Easter is on it’s way.  After five full months of a white New York Winter it’s safe to say I’m desperate for color. Nothing is blooming outside so it’s got to happen inside. I’m happy to be sharing with you today some easy Easter decorating ideas using bright cheerful Spring colors.

Egg-citing Colors

I love my white slipcovered furniture  and Alana coffee tables. The best thing about having neutral decor is that for every seasonal color change it provides a fresh blank slate.  The first and easiest way to add color is to swap out accent pillows. This year, I chose a delicious Easter egg colored palette inspired by a $14 thrift store purchase peaking in up there on the right.Meme_HIll_Studio_Amie_freling_easter_decorating_livingroom_colorful_ideas_pillows_homeGoods_art_flowers_sofa_white_slipcovered_coffee_table

Finding all my Easter decorating ideas is as easy as taking a trip to HomeGoods. I loaded up my cart with as many sherbet colored pillows is I could fit. I mixed and matched velvets, silks, linens, embossed and tasseled pillows. Opting for all solid with a patterned bolster pillow in the center.

I particularly love the limegreen embossed wave pillow. It’s pattern reminds me of the lines on  an Easter egg!

Hanging on a small wall in between the dining area and our living room is the $14 Goodwill painting that I mentioned earlier. It was the kind of find you see it, grab it, and look over both shoulders to see if anybody’s watching what you scored!  A gentleman actually followed me around the entire store making sure I didn’t decide against buying it and put it down.  No chance! LOL.

Hare Today, Gone Tomorrow

When I came to coffee table styling I stuck with my tried-and-true large white wooden tray from PB Teen. I headed to the floral filler aisle at HomeGoods and purchased moss covered filler and an array of Easter bunnies, hand painted Easter eggs, mercury glass votives, Spring  colored coffee table books, and a spring floral candle. Oh, and don’t forget the dangerous candy at the checkout aisle.

The hand-painted wooden eggs came in sets of six. There were so many color and pattern choices that I couldn’t decide. So of course I bought them all! I arranged the moss orbs, grass and Easter eggs in the bottom of my large glass votive. Extra Easter eggs pop out of the tall faux grass arrangement.

I fell in love with the black and white rabbit with gold ears.

My bright pastel palette consisting mostly of turquoise blues and greens still says “Easter” decorating without being too juvenile.

Mantel Mayhem

Looking beyond the coffee table vignette, I next addressed my fireplace mantel. I considered swapping out my favorite round mirror but decided against it. This massive green mirror has become my favorite focal point of the living room. The substantial thick round frame is such a contrast to the sharp linear lines throughout the room.

Again avoiding a juvenile color palette, I infuse more greens, white, and turquoise. I paired down my white pottery that calls the mantel home and added large moss covered rabbits, black and white rabbits, seeded orbs, boxwoods, grasses, and more hand-painted Easter eggs.

Facing the front window I accessorized my trestle sofa table with a collection of new, thrifted and handmade turquoise and white pottery. I added robins eggs nests hoping to convince myself that Spring is on its way despite the blanket of snow still outside!

My plans are to leave the blue velvet curtain panels up for few more months. The rich blue adds contrast. It’s just one more color of the rainbow that makes me happy.

My favorite additions are the raspberry and watermelon colored down filled pillows. They just scream happy bright Spring colors.

Somebunnies Happy

Bright and playful, these Easter colors can take this room well into Spring and Summer.  I plan to swap out the rabbits and Easter eggs with more fresh flowers and plants, Until then, my family and I plan to soak in all the colors that Easter brings our way. We have a small group celebrating Easter this year. Last year, we had a festive Sunday brunch at my sister’s home. Amie,
I love that you brought springtime into your home despite the winter weather on the outside! What a fabulous post filled with such beautiful colors. And btw, I was hot to get sherbet colored flowers the other day at our flower market, and I thought my florist friend must think I’m crazy! Who talks about sherbert these days?!!! Well, now I know I”m in good company! Thanks for yet another awesome blog hop!

First of all, I love all the colors here but that’s no surprise. I’m really loving those navy velvety drapes too and am wanting to incorporate some similar ones in my home. And poor Goodwill guy had no chance!! ha!! Love it all, Amie!
