Happy Spring everyone! I am so happy to be participating in the Easter Parade Blog Hop with some of my favorite bloggers today. If your coming over from my dear friend Kathleen from Lindsay Hill Interiors house welcome. Doesn’t she have the most festive Easter set up? I absolutely love her bright spacious Utah home. I’m here today to share how we set the Farmhouse table for a colorful Brunch…

Time Flies When You’re Having Fun

It’s hard to believe that one quarter of 2017 is already over! Where does time go? This past winter was a brutal one in for the East Coast. The snow just never seemed to stop coming down or melt. If you remember my last post about Spring Refresh we were snowed in at my sisters and brother-in-law’s home for four days.  Despite being displaced we had fun setting up for Easter.

Hippity Hop You Better Shop!

Luckily, the week before my sister and I had gone out shopping at HomeGoods.  The great Easter decorations we all out and I knew that if we waited they’d be gone. We snatched up pretty much every turquoise Easter related item in the store including these beautiful glass eggs and ceramic bunnies.  You should have seen the people stopping us with our carts filled to the brim with these goodies! Lately I’ve been talking about my love with turquoise and well, it still continues.

Create Your Easter Theme

Ours this year was TURQUOISE. The variety of textures, sizes and shapes make for a perfect spring tablescape. We started with an artificial grass mat and alternated eggs with rabbits. I added moss, hand painted wooden eggs, and pastel colored real malted milk balls. I also fell in love with these ombre turquoise fluted champagne glasses.  These handmade glasses have the tiniest gold rimmed edge that I just couldn’t pass up, I’m in a desperate search for more. If any of you find them, let me know!

With the large island, this centerpiece stays without needing to be moved at mealtime. I have noticed however the number of malted milk balls have decreased just since we set it up. Ha ha I think I may know the culprit.

Let’s Gets Personal

Each place setting received a white linen and turquoise blue embroidered dinner napkin. We took out Jenni’s good silver and do they ever make a pretty pair. We mixed and matched her colorful whimsical dinnerware. I topped each salad plate with a gold porcelain egg cup along with these adorable hand-painted wooden eggs also from HomeGoods. I carefully used a colored sharpie marker and wrote out our family’s name on each of the eggs. Do you have your special place to sit at the table? I know we do.

In keeping with our turquoise theme I placed a sweet nest with hand-painted robin’s eggs at the end of the table. I also purchased a set of three rabbit silhouette etched mercury glass candle votives. I’m telling you the checkout aisle at HomeGoods is seriously dangerous. In a good way.

Now we’re already for Easter Brunch! The colorful place setting and whimsical turquoise centerpiece stands out perfectly against the Carrera marble island countertop.

Gather ‘Round

It’s the perfect place together around in the kitchen after a morning of church and neighborhood Easter egg hunts. It doesn’t matter how old you are. Everyone loves finding the Golden Egg! Over in the corner hangs a rustic wood sign with the kitchen rules: Laugh with family, eat local, elbows off the table, complement the chef, and always give thanks among of the few rules we try to live by. This kitchen renovation was the best decision that was ever made. If you can remember from a past post we tore down the wall between the dining room and the kitchen and found this gorgeous exposed brick chimney stack. What a great surprise!

The open iron chandelier allows light and doesn’t block your vision of the built ins. We can gather up to ten of us around the island with these farmhouse cross back chairs.   For more on the details of this renovation and how we made room for the huge china cabinet, click here.

With Spring Comes New Traditions

We are so excited to start a new family tradition eating Easter morning brunch at my sister’s house. We all plan to bring a dish to pass. Mine usually involves chocolate. My niece Charlotte fell in love with this foil wrapped egg. She actually thought it was chocolate but it’s not!

I’m anxious to start decorating some Easter eggs but until then these wooden striped painted eggs will do just fine. We decorate around three dozen eggs. I love to experiment with colors and dying techniques.

It’s a Family Affair

We’re not shy in the personality department. If any of the kids complain about what is about to be served for dinner Jenni points to the sign below. Complaints Department: 100 miles away. We’re ready to eat Easter brunch! What are your plans for Easter? Do you travel or do you stay close to home?

If you grew up in the 80s then you definitely are familiar with Gloria Gaynor’s disco hit I Will Survive. When I saw these planters at HomeGoods they literally danced into my cart! I’m certainly NOT the one in my family who has the green thumb.

Not Your Ordinary Easter Basket

Although our kids are taller than we are, they all still love receiving Easter baskets on Easter morning. The kids get baskets filled with candy, gift cards and fun trinkets. I planted fresh hyacinth and daffodils plants in each of the planters and I gave one to my sister and one to my husband. The silver bunny cake plate is going to my mom for Easter brunch. Each year I find the most beautiful silver rabbit dinnerware pieces. This will certainly be a great addition to her collection and a future heirloom to-be.
