Entertaining and setting the table for friends during the holidays has always been one of my favorite things to do. Staying home, lighting a fire in the fireplace and enjoying good food, good music, and good laughs all while in the comforts of your home has never been such a great idea. And while we’ve been doing it for years now it has a new name… FRIENDSGIVING.  Whether pot roast, pot luck, or pizza I love making my dinner table a work of art and you better bet it includes color, pattern, and loads of textures.

Finding Inspiration

It all started with these amazing colorful patterned rice bowls that I found at HomeGoods. This images is from my Instagram story. If you follow along you’ll get behind the scenes sneak peeks and my day to day shenanigans! Follow here for Instagram.

There were so many stacked on the shelves and so many varieties I just had to get them. Instead of trying to match I decided to get one of each.  It was perfect for my mix and match approach to setting the table. These little sweeties cost only $2.99. I took home ten. They are the perfect little bowls for ice cream, salads, snacks and side dishes.

If you saw my last post Styling a Coffee Table: Getting Ready for Fall at the Lake  then you know that found this set of white corn husk mini pumpkins for $9.99. I knew that these guys had versatility and would make a great addition to my tablescape centerpiece .

I mixed the white pumpkins with a real pumpkin and red painted orbs and seed pods. Clipping from the garden are placed in a raised silver and gold metal bowl and stand set also from HomeGoods. I feel in love with the golden arrows. The arrows echo again in the stand base.

My centerpieces is anchored by a round beaded placemat. Just enough glitter and height to create an eye catching centerpiece that is also easy to move once dinner is ready. I always prefer to serve my food family style as opposed to buffet.

The extra white mini pumpkins get placed in the bowls as the centerpiece of the place setting.

Gold accents such as a vintage set of salt and pepper shakers, large wishbone, mirrored gold star candleholders and gold rimmed glasses add to the bohemian collected look.

Extra bowls are stacked for color, layered Anthropologie dinner plates in different shapes, mix and match glassware, orange ikat napkins, green handled serviceware and fringed natural and turquoise place mats round out the place setting. Each place setting having its own color scheme.

Let the Feast Begin

We’re ready for out intimate Friendsgiving get together.   When it comes to entertains for friends and family how do you set your table? Is it casual or do you get out all the china?  I love to mix and match the high and low pieces. Creating a colorful eclectic table is easy to do and should not cost a fortune. How do you mix things up for variety?

You chose some really pretty items! I love how bursts of color can all come together. The last picture that’s directly over the top of the table is my favorite. Great job!

This is fantastic! Love the cut glass blue and green vases- an elegant touch to the table. Beautiful collection of things I never would dream of putting together- but they work perfectly!! The gold is a stand-out, too.
