I am so excited tis hare how you can transform your builder spec home into a stunning neutral home that is anything but cookie cutter. My client Stacey, her husband Tom and their two children live in a builder spec home built in the 70’s but it is anything but ordinary. Stacey has a wonderful ability to transform the mundane into the magnificant. Her neutral decor can translate into so many tastes. By adding paint, gorgeous furnishings and a few DIY projects they have made this home a showcase in my eyes. Even though the holidays have passed, she kept up her tasteful decorations for the party and I couldn’t resist sharing how beautiful her home was!

Fabulous Foyer Ideas

Stacey likes basics and with two young children clutter at its minimum. Here is her foyer painted in Sherwin Williams Neutral Ground SW7568. To add interest to the stairs we add removable chevron wallpaper to the stair risers, added a matching chevron rug, mercury glass lamp, a sequined joy pillow and other accessories from Homegoods. A vintage chair gets a fresh coat of white gloss spray paint and new fabric.

The Living Room

To the right of the foyer is her formal living room with two custom made paintings that I painted for her previous home. The large cathedral ceiling is perfect for the scale of the 5 foot tall paintings. Stacey loves black and white and topiaries. The whimsical casual elements of this neutral home is carried throughout the house along with her love of all things mercury glass.

The Family Room

To the left of the foyer is the family room. The two walls are filled with windows and the light floods the room with sunshine! Neutral home has a splash of shimmer and family friendly furnishing that look fabulous. The coffee table is black distressed which make it worry free for games, crafting and snacking.

Familyroom

The opening from the kitchen into the family room was enlarged for a more open floor plan  living. Neutral granite counters, square gray tiles set in a brick pattern and all white furniture make it bright and fresh. How cute is the homemade chalkboard banner that the kids made with words describing their father?

The Bedrooms

A quick tour of the upstairs with Tucker’s navy blue sleigh bed, big boy furnishings and bedding from Pottery Barn Kids. Sadie’s pink room reveals the cutest ever homemade armoire for her American Girl Dolls. Stacey purchased a melamine white cabinet from Target and gave it a facelift with scrapbook paper from Michael’s contact paper and paint. She later added custom pink, black and white Hob Knobs.

Hi yes Kathy. Very soothing and warm but not dark at all. If you have any reservations about the color you can go to your local Sherwin Williams and get a quart of the color to go for just $6.! Thanks for stopping by the blog. Amie
